Promotion sets the tone for the next phase of Sibusiso’s career

After getting promoted from a multiskilled operator to a pit supervisor this year, Sibusiso Sithole’s next step is to further his studies and pursue a Government Certificate of Competency in mechanical engineering.

Sibusiso believes his years of experience, combined with qualifications including Competent A, legal liability training and earthmoving equipment mechanic certificates, prepared him for a leadership role. He is currently studying towards his N5 in Mechanical Engineering and plans to continue through to N6 level as he works towards gaining more experience. As a Pit Supervisor, Sibusiso leads a team of 26 employees and makes safety his top priority. “The biggest responsibility I have is making sure that we are working as safely as possible,” he says.
