The safe space: Supporting mental wellness in the workplace
While maintaining physical health and safety are a core part of our operations, we also believe that mental health and wellness are just as important. A conducive work environment starts with a healthy state of mind. At Khanye Colliery, we launched an employee wellness programme through a collaboration with Maeko Social Work Services.
This initiative gives employees access to vital services such as confidential counselling, 24/7 helpline support, legal services and financial advice, amongst other things. The response has been positive so far, but we encourage more of our colleagues to take full advantage of these services. We are also running a Trackless Mobile Machinery (TMMs) safety campaign with informative posters and awareness activities at our operations. We aim to prevent incidents and collisions as much as possible, in keeping with our Zero Harm commitment.
