Dream career becomes reality
Nhlanhla Malanga, Auto Electrician at Khanye
Nhlanhla Malanga's appointment as an auto electrician at Khanye not only meant working closer to home but it also fulfilled his dream of working in the mining industry, something he pursued for 13 years. Nhlanhla hails from Ekangala in Bronkhorstspruit. He began his career as a machine operator at a chemicals and energy company in Secunda in 2010. Four years later, he qualified as an electrician.
In 2021, he advanced to the role of auto electrician assistant, which marked the beginning of his rewarding career. “I chose this career because I’m a hands-on person naturally,” he says. Initially enrolled for an IT qualification at the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT), he realised that IT was not his calling. Nhlanhla decided to pursued his N4 and N5 levels at the Denver Technical College. He was appointed at Khanye in November 2024 and is currently pursuing an Electronics Diploma through UNISA. He believes that this qualification will enhance his career prospects. Nhlanhla is open to exploring other opportunities in his field, including underground mining.
