“Canyon Coal’s bursary support made it possible for me to achieve my academic goals which would not have been possible due to my family not having the means to fund my education. The bursary covered my accommodation, books, tuition fees and a monthly stipend throughout my five years of studying. Canyon Coal bursaries provide all the support a student could require. At the end of each year we had meetings with HR and management at Canyon to discuss our academic progress, to raise issues we had and also to discuss things we could be improve upon. In addition to financial support, I did vacation work during school recess and received in service training, which formed part of the modules required to obtain the qualification. My journey with Canyon was amazing, I had an opportunity to learn about how mining projects operate, coal processing and career opportunities in mining to name but a few.”
