The Company would like to recruit a Pit Superintendent to be based at Khanye Colliery in Bronkhorstspruit.

Description

The purpose of this role is to optimise safety and risk control systems, as well as ensure legal compliance at the mine.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Grade 12

  • Computer literacy-MS Office

  • English proficiency

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Knowledge of relevant legislation

  • Good report writing skills

  • Knowledge of the Opencast Mining, and Engineering works

  • National Diploma -Mining Engineering will be an advantage

  • Opencast Blasting Certificate

  • Competent person A certificate

  • Proven leadership and managerial skills

  • In-depth knowledge of safety regulations and best practices.

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Other Skills/Competencies

  • Physically fit and able to pass a medical/fitness test.

  • Ability to operate without supervision and be able to work under pressure.

  • Be a self –starter and able to work according to deadlines.

  • Integrity, reliable and ethical.

  • Sound communication and interpersonal skills.

Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years open cast experience.

  • Minimum of 2 years middle management experience.

  • Processing plant and mine planning experience will be advantageous.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Overseeing daily mining operations for enhanced efficiency and productivity.

  • Implementing, reinforcing and ensuring compliance to safety protocols to maintain a secure working environment.

  • Collaborating with various departments to coordinate activities and resolve operational challenges.

  • Providing leadership and guidance to the mining team to achieve production targets.

  • Implementing best practices to improve overall pit performance.

  • Plan, organise and monitor the production process.

  • Ensure optimal plant utilisation & availability.

  • Plays a key role in all people management processes.

  • Responsible for ensuring all administrative requirements are met.

  • Pit Sup handover procedure

  • Night hand over procedure

  • Manage on time completion of plant for projects.

  • External client / supplier liaison

  • Ensure that procedures and COPs are strictly adhered to

  • Technical supervision
